Vishay Attends Semiconductors APPG Event in Westminster

February 2026
On Monday 2 February, Sam Evans and Peter Williams from Vishay attended a parliamentary reception in Westminster hosted by the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Semiconductors. The event brought together parliamentarians and stakeholders from across the UK semiconductor sector to discuss the industry’s contribution to economic growth and its strategic importance to the UK.
Organised by the APPG for Semiconductors, the reception focused on the role of semiconductors in enabling growth across a wide range of industries and highlighted the importance of maintaining and strengthening the UK’s semiconductor capabilities. The APPG provides a forum for engagement between industry, policymakers and experts, helping to raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.
The event also marked the publication of the APPG’s growth paper, Unlocking UK Economic Growth, which sets out a series of recommendations aimed at supporting long-term growth in the UK semiconductor sector. The paper highlights the foundational role semiconductors play across the economy and calls for coordinated action to support innovation, investment and supply-chain resilience. The paper was prepared by the APPG’s Advisory Board, on which Sam Evans from Vishay sits.
The event featured contributions from Ruth Jones MP, Chair of the APPG for Semiconductors, Kanishka Narayan MP, Minister for AI and Online Safety, and Drew Nelson OBE, Chair of the APPG’s Advisory Board. It was attended by parliamentarians from across the House, including Gurinder Josan MP, Treasurer of the APPG, Kate Osborne MP, and Lord David Willetts, among others.
Vishay looks forward to continuing to work with the APPG as it champions the UK semiconductor industry.
The APPG’s press release on the event can be found here and their website can be found here.
